Wow… it’s been a BIG week! And I’m not just talking about how much this bump AKA Ky has grown. 😉 We are now #34WeekPregnant and baby girl is approaching 5 pounds and the size of a very heavy cantaloupe.
Our BIG announcement and new development is that my hubby returned home from deployment a month earlier than we ever thought possible AND my mama arrived on the same day! We are now in full-blown “prepare for baby Ky” mode.
Their arrival was perfectly timed too. While I’m grateful to have been so active (and still plan to be), I can feel myself needing to slow down some.
Between this babe still being breech and causing this mama some VERY uncomfortable days and nights, the heat of summer weather, chasing after our super adventurous 5-year-old, running a business and a household solo, I didn’t realize just how much the extra help would be appreciated and needed until it arrived.
I finally was able to make an appointment to see an incredible chiropractor that works with expectant mamas and has a great success rate of helping prepare babies to “spin.” After one session my low back pain is already SO MUCH BETTER, and I’m looking forward to going in again end of this week.
Mamas… if you’re having low back or extreme round ligament pain during your pregnancy, seeing someone that knows how to safely adjust you is a game-changer.
So I’m embracing it, learning what works, and keeping myself humble about the process.
Now for the fun stuff. Getting all the baby clothes washed, the final touches put on the nursery, cord blood banking setup, last minute baby-proofing projects done, soaking up lots of quality time with my hubs, our girl, and my mama, and enjoying SLEEP while I can. 😂

Here are a few of the workouts from my 34th week….
My mama is in town! 🙌🏼 so you know that I’ve got her joining me for some of my daily workout shenanigans. 😊 .
Myself #34weekspregnant and my mama rocking it as a nana of 2 (soon to be 3 littles) 😊 .
3.5 years ago I would NOT have gotten her to do this workout with me. She has had her fair share of health related issues, and injuries as most do in their 50s .
One my greatest motivators to finding a better way to approach my own health was inspired by knowing I wanted to not only help myself but help those I love. My grandpa (her dad, had a heart attack in his 50s) a pattern I didn’t want to see repeated. .
My mom is a nurse too (recently retired), & my step dad a pediatrician, but their degrees were not focused on lifestyle, nutrition, and mindset. In fact you’ll find it’s often those who have spent a lifetime caring for others that have forgotten to take care of themselves in these areas. AND Until these past few years that was definitely the case here. .
It didn’t happen over night, but because of the greater awareness around PREVENTATIVE health and HEALTH care vs Sick care, and my transitioning from ICU nurse to Health Coach we started talking and implementing changes to our lifestyles, food, & exercise. .
Here we are almost 4 years later and my mom has been able to get off cholesterol meds, lost over 20 lbs and kept it off, is more active, has less pain and can keep up with her grand babies, my step dad has lost over 100 lbs and overall they are able to be far more active. .
Health is a journey friends and committing to your own can have a ripple effect in a profound and positive way. .
You just have to start, be consistent, and love yourself where you’re at, while committing to being better everyday!!

And my mama thought she’d come have a relaxing trip to Hawaii to visit her girls 😂
I kid, I kid 😊… but really I’m super thankful to have her here to help and stoked that she’s up for all my shenanigans.
In between washing baby clothes, getting the house ready, keeping Mac entertained while I work, helping me with all our last min pre baby projects, and a few fun Island adventures Nana is still game for our daily workouts. It’s so incredible to see the healthy transformations of those you love unfold before your eyes 😊
I’ve even got her eating an extra helping of veggies each day 🙌🏼😊💞😂 (big win)
Welcome to Jax’s House of Pain 😂😂😂😂 and pre-baby boot camp

Let’s chat weights and resistance real quick. I used to be the girl who would go to the gym and spend 30 mins on the elliptical, took and taught spin classes, and frequented all cardio based group fitness classes, thinking that was the answer, and while it had “benefits” to some degree, it wasn’t until I began resistance training that my body CHANGED dramatically. .
Not only in its composition, but in my metabolism too. I learned the valuable lesson that lean muscle not only changes the shape of your body, but helps burn more fat. .
During my first pregnancy I did primarily yoga and some cardio, but no resistance and I can tell you this time around having found a great balance of body resistance and free weights has made a huge difference in my energy and abilities. .
Each pregnancy is of coarse unique and you have to honor what is best for you and your baby, but being active and finding the right mix of activity this time around has made a world of difference. .
I’m opening several spots for my Rockin Your Bump Expectant mamas wellness group (kicking off next week) workouts, meal plans, recipes, mindset, community, and more for a healthy active pregnancy. .
