Mom Sanity Safeguards: My 5 Ways to Stay on Track Even When Life Gets Crazy

Confession…

Much of the past 17 months (since Ky arrived) & Mac started school full-time I have been in survival mode. I feel like most days I live in reaction to the needs of those around me. Isn’t it so easy to flip into this space as a wife, mom, & caretaker?

Thankfully, I have a few mom safeguards in place that have helped me maintain my sanity & ensure that even though we’re still adjusting to this new chapter in our lives, this mama bear continues to stay healthy, energetic, happy, & engaged.

Because we know that if mama ain’t happy, the whole family feels it!

HERE ARE MY 5 MOMMY SAFEGUARDS…

1️⃣ GIVE THANKS: I use my 5 mins Gratitude Journal EVERYDAY! Mac even has one, so we can do it together. This keeps my mind focused on seeing all the “extra”ordinary/ordinary amongst all the crazy.

In life we get more of what we focus on, so I chose to let the first thing I focus on daily to be gratitude

2️⃣ MORNING JAM SESSION: We play music as we’re getting ready and dance party it up in the kitchen as we all have our morning Smoothies. CHOOSING your energy for the day is a MUST.

Newborn & teething life meant many a day when I was running on little or no sleep, but by playing up beat tunes & dancing it out with my babies in the a.m. I take control of my state of being and create a positive experience for my family to start their day.

3️⃣ SUPERCHARGED SUPERFOODS: I’m busy, I’m also a chronic meal skipper, AND a recovered binge eater. 4️⃣ MOVE IT: I quickly realized when I first became a mom 7 yrs ago that my days of taking 2 a day yoga classes, throwing in a spin class just for fun, scheduling a personal trainer or attending a group fitness class any day of the week was NOT how things were gonna be anymore.

I needed something that I could do either WITH my little one or could knock out during nap time.

I now have a virtual library of over 700 streaming workouts of EVERY style that I can do from ANYWHERE. By eliminating the need to find child care & drive somewhere else, I make sure that everyday is a good day to get in a workout.

5️⃣ BUDDY UP: I felt so isolated as a new mama, so I created a community of women LOTS OF OTHER MAMAS who also wanted to be their most healthy selves.

We now support one another daily in my Virtual Wellness Studio. We each face similar struggles with time & energy, but now we have a place to check into (my app or the Virtual Wellness Studio) & there is always someone who helps us get back in the game, or offers up an idea to make our situation work.

The likelihood of getting new habits to stick dramatically increases when you share your progress with others.

Social accountability increases the likelihood of achieving your goals, but you need to commit to one person in particular. An accountability partner is the key to your success. That’s EXACTLY what I do as a virtual coach for those in my community, if you need help!
