Growing Babies & a Business: VALUABLE Lessons of a Mompreneur

There are several times per week (sometimes per day) that I can feel overwhelmed by my roles of Mama AND Business Owner. I won’t pretend I have EVERYTHING dialed in or “all together” all the time. No mom ever does!

Just when you get into a groove or routine, life happens and that’s going to be even more the case as soon as this little one makes her debut🤰🏼 and we go about adjusting to a new routine, sleepless nights, and all the newborn joys.
However, there are some VALUABLE lessons I’ve learned being stay-at-home, WORK-from-home mompreneur who has grown a successful business with my daughter at my side since she was 15 months old that I thought I’d share…
You WILL have days where you need to drop EVERYTHING and just be mom. And that’s OKAY! The sooner you come to terms with that, the less stress you will impose on yourself! I’m all for planning and owning your commitments, but delayed responses to emails, unanswered questions, and voicemails can wait when you have a sick, overtired, teething, “I don’t want to nap” ‘lil’ one! Learn early on TO LET IT GO (cue Frozen soundtrack).
Do all the things you can do with your babe while they are awake. I include Mac in my workouts and fully intend to BYOB (bring my own baby) along for workouts. And plan to do my household stuff while interacting with her, eat when she does, and if possible I strongly recommend setting up your to-do list and workout space the night before you go to bed or before nap times so that you know where to direct your energy when they go down and when you start your day.
Get in the habit of writing down or digitally tracking an urgent to do list. I personally love Asana or Wunderlist (they save me) and I can easily organize my thoughts and MUST-DOS without the chaos and clutter of random post-it’s or notes scribbled here or there.
MEAL PREP! I beat this topic TO DEATH in my groups and provide tons of support around this, but if you do not meal prep – ESPECIALLY with a little one and juggling work – you WILL fall short of your goals because you will inevitably choose what’s convenient over what’s healthy. The problem is that what’s convenient won’t help you feel energetic, healthy, or support your goals, and if you’re nursing it’s not going to be supporting your babies best health either! Seriously, if I didn’t meal prep so would be a zombie For REALZ!! REQUEST INFO ABOUT MY BUSY MOM VIRTUAL WELLNESS STUDIO
Final note: always stay true to your priorities. I chose to be a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom so that I could choose my schedule and be more present in my kids’ lives.
It takes me being disciplined and committed to being my own boss, but also acknowledging that Mom is my #1 job, and if push comes to shove EVERYTHING else can wait. My kids won’t remember my delayed email response time, a video that didn’t go up, or social post that was missed, but they will remember mama BEING present for them.
Both a successful business and childhood can be created if you possess the ability to lead with determination, love, and a whole lotta grace and if you believe in yourself! You’ve got this, mama!
Hope some of these help you through.
If you’ve ever considered becoming an online health & wellness coach or learning more about what it is I do if you could too take my coaching ASSESSMENT HERE and you and I can set up a 1:1 to chat about it!
I can tell you without a doubt that it’s been the best choice for me to trade in my scrubs and full-time nights in the ICU, for an opportunity to be an EVERYDAY presence in my daughters life. Making memories, earning an income, and setting an example for her, that you can still build your dreams and a family if it’s your passion and desire to do so!!
