I’m in Hawaii (so…. not exactly feeling “festive” around here) I’m not at all complaining, I LOVE being an island girl, but in an effort to insert some Holiday flair into my life, I’ve mixed some of my favorite festive flavors into my daily superfood smoothies to satiate my holiday appetitie.
It’s “that” time of year and all around it’s easy to find pumpkin spiced and peppermint EVERYTHING. And since I’m all about offering healthier options, I thought I’d offer up some festively flavored variations of my favorite Superfoods.
I used to be guilty of skipping the most important meal of the day, and then later grabbing whatever was convienent and usually bad for me. And with all the holiday parties and temptaions in full swing it’s great to have another option.
These days, I drink my superfood smoothies daily. They are dense in nutrition, and keep me energized, full, and effectivly nip my sweet tooth in the bud, by keeping me fueled with nutients, superfoods, vitamins, protein, pre and probiotics, and more.
It’s my go-to supplement, and has been for 2 years. It’s what SAVED me after nursing my daughter for 15 months, and has been my secret weapon that keeps me on track now.
I typically mix mine with 1/2 unsweetened vanilla almond milk & 1/2 unsweetened vanilla coconut milk, and ice. But with a few simple add ons, (like those listed below) your palette will enjoy all the flavors of the season without the sugar crash or holiday guilt.
MY GO TO HOLIDAY SUPERFOOD BLENDS
Thin Mint Smoothie: 1 scoop vegan or regular chocolate shakeology, 2 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 c. filtered water, 1 cup ice, dash (SPARINGLY) peppermint extract.
Pumpkin Chai Latte Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla or vegan chocolate shakeology, 1/2 c. unsweetened brewed black chai tea (cooled), 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup organic pumpkin puree, 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 1 cup ice
Spicy Mayan Smoothie: 1 scoop vegan chocolate shakeology, 2 cups unsweetened almond or coconut milk, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 dash cayenne pepper, 1 cup ice (optional 1/2 cup frozen dark cherries)
Snickerdoodle Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond or coconut milk, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 cup ice, (optional) 1/2 cup greek yogurt
Peppermint Mocha: 1 scoop vegan or regular chocolate shakeology, 1.5 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk, 1 cup cold brew coffee, 1 cup ice, dash of peppermint extract.
Peppermint Patti: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 2 cups unsweetend almond or coconut milk, 1 cup ice, Dash of peppermint extract.
Pumpkin Spice Latte Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup cold brew coffee, 1/2 cup organic pumpkin puree, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice, 1 cup ice
Apple Pie Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 1.5 cup unsweetened vanilla almond or coconut milk, 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, 1 cup ice, (optional) 1 TBS old fashioned rolled oats.
Banana Bread Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 1.5 cup unsweetened vanilla almond or coconut milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 2 tbs walnuts, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 cup ice
Chocolate Chai Smoothie: 1 scoop vegan or regular chocolate shakeology, 1/2 c. brewed black chai tea (cooled), 1 cup almond milk, 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice, 1 cup ice
Caramel Apple Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 2 cups almond milk, 1/2 green apple (diced) or 1/2 unsweetened apple sauce, 1 tsp. caramel extract, 1 cup ice
Salted Caramel Smoothie: 1 scoop vegan or regular chocolate shakeology, 2 cups almond milk, 1 tsp caramel extract, dash sea salt, 1 cup ice
Pumpkin Spice Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 1.5 cup almond milk, 1 tbs organic pumpkin puree, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 1 cup ice
Maple Almond Smoothie: 1 scoop vegan chocolate shakeology, 2 cups unsweetened almond or coconute milk, 2 tsp pure maple syrup, 1 tbs almond butter, 1 cup ice
Apple Cider Smoothie: 1 scoop vanilla shakeology, 1/2 apple (diced), 1/2 frozen banana, 1.5 cup almond milk, 1 tsp. maple syrup, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, dash nutmeg, 1 cup ice
